An Overview of ISEE
ISEE – An Overview
Every year thousands of
students’ compete to take admission in independent schools or private schools
or what are also called non-state schools. Private schools are perceived by
many to be just a little more advanced than others, and private schools
themselves connote an image of excellence thus taking the admission in these
schools is more arduous. ISEE is taken as a component of the admissions
process for most private schools.
The Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE) is administered by
Educational Records Bureau (ERB). The ISEE scores are used by schools as
a part to assess a candidates analytical skills and efficiency skills. ISEE is
used by premier schools in America
for admission to grade 5 to 12. The result obtained is used by more than 1500
independent member schools of ERB for admission into different grades. The
entrance exam is divided in to three parts:
Lower Level: For students of grade 4 and 5 students and are prospective
candidates for admission into grade 5 and 6 respectively.
Middle Level: For students in grades 6 and seven and are prospective
candidates for admission into grade 7 and 8 respectively?
Upper Level: For students in grade 8 to 11 and are prospective candidates
for admission into grade 9 to 12.
Frequency: Students can write ISEE test only once in 6 months period.
Registration for ISEE
There are several ways to register for ISEE. But one should register by the method which suits them the best.

Online Registration: Online registration is the best way to register yourself for the examination. Apart from the various advantages of ISEE online registration, it is the quickest and safest method for the registration.-
- Choose the seat at the registration location by yourself
- Editing the student information
- Receiving the admission ticket.
- Changing the score card recipient school.
- Changing the location where you wish to take the test.
- Receiving ISEE scores online
- Registering late up to 2 weeks before the test date.
Registration through mail: Registration is only available at center
available in the printed ISEE Student Guide only. You can request for the
student guide by sending your name and mailing address to achaber@erblearn.org
The fee for a mail-in registration is $98.

There is a $20 additional charge for a telephone registration. The total phone
registration fee is $118. The fee is payable by Visa, MasterCard, American
Express, or electronic check only.

Fee Waiver
In 1985, the Ben D. Wood Grant Program was established in honor of his lifetime commitment to the organization. Students in financial need may apply for a Ben D. Wood ISEE fee waiver for large group testing.
