Northwest Politicians continue to impress
Posted by : USA Online on Sep 02,2016 11:45 AM
Although there is a lot of diversity of opinion when it comes to voting records, Northwest politicians have a history of taking on issues with their constituents' best interests in mind. Here are some of the people who continue to work hard to ensure that the quality of life in the region remains near the top of the national charts:
Ron Wyden, (D-Or):
Senator Wyden began his career staking out an advocacy claim for a group of people that were seldom served by name, seniors. His tireless efforts on their behalf and his hands on outreach in the areas that he serves allowed him to go onto a storied career in both the House and the Senate. For the past 8 years, his work on the Senate Intelligence community has shown the same type of conscientiousness that has been described as being 'no longer really present' in the national discussion. Acutely aware that the US is actually viewed by interests like Amnesty International and purportedly former President Carter as having lost its way in individual freedoms and democracy, Wyden has led the fight to disclose as much to Americans about the current situation regarding their own civil liberties as possible. This has led to exchanges with both the head of the CIA and the NSA. At a time when constituents are no longer as informed as they were about potential abuses, it is refreshing for some to see politicians providing classic support for all their constituents.
Mike Crapo (R-Id):
Harvard law, Idaho Falls: a career path to wealth and fame that is somewhat unique in the region. Crapo is one politician who grew up in a community, went away to school, and then returned to help that community grow stronger over time. His commitment has included solid work in the Senate, defending both the environment and the industries that need to exploit natural resources in order to provide jobs for Idahoans. As a 'less government' proponent, his recent focus has to been to point out that regulation of industry and consumers has crept forward over the past decade, making markets and the consumer experience inefficient. By leading the charge against too much regulation, he aims to create more equality and more efficiency in places that do not otherwise have much of a say in Washington DC.
Kate Brown (D-Or):
There aren't too many governors in the US who were born in Spain. Kate, however, was part of a family involved overseas with military. Her time with other cultures helped to broaden her perspective of the different elements that make up the community that she serves. Her ascent to power from the Secretary of State position during a scandal is indicative of her style: share your competency at all times. She was able to project clarity amid confusion- and her moves in office so far have been a continuation of politician well-grounded in common sense for the common good. She is widely acknowledged to be someone who accentuates out her capabilities by hiring talented staff.
